CHEMICAL SAMPLING: QSA102 FAC® – DRSKO
DRSKO is an acronym for Dismounted Recontinues Sets, Kits and Outfits.
The DRSKO is a set of mission-specific kits that characterise and provide full spectrum CBRN dismounted reconnaissance capability. The system provides detection and identification of volatile organic compounds, toxic industrial chemicals/materials, chemical warfare agents, biological warfare agents, oxygen levels, and combustible gases. The system also provides individual personal protective equipment as well as decontamination equipment and marking, sampling, and reporting of CBRN threats.
As the military continues to expand its role from traditional battlefield threats of the cold war era to a more urban, police action activity where industrial chemicals are encountered, the mission of CBRN response teams is expanding from traditional Chemical Warfare Agents (CWAs) to include Toxic Industrial Chemicals/Toxic Industrial Materials (TICs/TIMs), Agents of Biological Origin (ABO) and various radiological materials. The Dismounted Reconnaissance Sets, Kits and Outfits (DRSKO) initiative was established as an acquisition program to address these additional mission requirements. The DRSKO initiative includes CBRN detection and protection equipment tailored to support each service’s missions that require dismounted CBRN reconnaissance, WMD conformation or denial, and characterisation of a hazardous material event or accident.
